The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office is seeking the public's assistance to locate a missing adult female.
Philtrisha L. Hendricks, 23, of Ashburn, VA, was last heard from by her family on October 12th. Philtrisha is described as a Black female, 4' 11" tall and weighing approximately 120 pounds. She has some medical issues and has been known to stay in area women's shelters.
Anyone who knows the whereabouts of Philtrisha is asked to contact Investigator K. Poland of the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division at 703-777-0475.

The resurfacing of the road by VDOT on Frederick and Church is being followed by VDOT's resurfacing of four miles of Sterling Boulevard. This is over a millions dollars in combined expenditures and is a major maintenance improvement on the Boulevard.
There are new traffic lights, new signage and markings at Holly, Beech and Church. Look for construction of new dedicated entrance lanes and exit lanes over at Sterling Blvd. and Route 7. This is held up due to right of way clearances but it is entirely budgeted from 2 years ago.

I wrote you last week about the preparations to mark the return of Specialist Mace.
The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously today to adopt a resolution of honor and respect for Army Specialist Stephan L. Mace, a Purcellville native who was one of eight soldiers killed earlier this month in Afghanistan. The resolution reads as follows:
"WHEREAS, Specialist Fourth Class Stephan Lee Mace with seven of his comrades gave their lives on October 3rd, 2009 during a combat assault on their contingency outpost by insurgent Taliban forces in Kamdesh, Afghanistan; and
WHEREAS, Specialist Mace, a former resident of Purcellville spent a good deal of his youth in Loudoun County where he is fondly remembered; and
BE IT RESOLVED that on this day, October 20th, 2009 the Board of Supervisors and the citizens of Loudoun County do stand together to honor the courage, service and dedication to country and the ultimate sacrifice of Specialist Stephan Mace and his comrades in all branches of the armed forces while forging the destiny of the United States and standing up for the freedom of oppressed people.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Specialist Stephan Mace will
be laid to rest forever with Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines
at Arlington National Cemetery and that the citizens of Loudoun
County are asked to always remember the service of all of those men
and women and that they never be forgotten."

The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously today to appoint Tim Hemstreet to serve as County Administrator, effective December 7, 2009.
Hemstreet, 41, comes to Loudoun County from the City of Miami Beach, Fla., where he has held management positions since April 2001. He has served as Assistant City Manager and Assistant Executive Director of the Redevelopment Agency since March 2005. Before that, he was director of the Capital Projects Office.
He will replace Kirby M. Bowers, who retired in April 2009 after serving as Loudoun County Administrator for nearly 17 years. Hemstreet was selected from a pool of about 150 applicants following a comprehensive nationwide search. LInda A. Neri has been serving as Interim County Administrator since Bowers retired.

Extended Hours for Absentee Voting Offered in Loudoun through October 31
Extended hours for absentee voting in Loudoun County in advance of the General Election on Tuesday, November 3, 2009, will be offered beginning Monday, October 19 through Saturday, October 31.
Satellite absentee voting will be offered at the Cascades Senior Center, 21060 Whitfield Place, in Sterling on the following dates:
Monday through Friday, October 26-30, 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
This Saturday: October 31, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Tuesday, October 27, 2009, is the last day for voters to request absentee ballot by mail. Saturday, October 31, 2009, is the last day to vote absentee in person.

The board of supervisors voted 8 yes, 1 no (Delgaudio) to ask Richmond for taxing authority for admission to events in the county, cigerette taxes and the meals tax. I am fighting this and will keep you posted. Many newspapers are beginning to report on this shocking development since the citizens voted down the meals tax three times (1998, 2002 and 2008).
The Republican Party will take up a resolution asking legislators to take a position and for whoever is elected Governor to veto the Loudoun Board's request.
