Two Suspects in Custody After Attempted Armed Robbery of Armored Vehicle

Feb. 12: One suspect is in custody and a second is hospitalized after shots were fired during a brazen daylight attempted robbery of an armored truck in a shopping center in Chantilly, VA.

Around 1:30PM today, Loudoun Sheriff's Deputies responded to the Eastern Marketplace Plaza for a report of an attempted robbery of a Dunbar armored truck. Multiple shots were reportedly fired between the suspects and security personnel assigned to the truck. Two suspects were seen fleeing the area in a vehicle and a lookout was posted to neighboring jurisdictions.

The vehicle was located in the area of Route 50 and a high-risk traffic stop was conducted by an officer with the Fairfax County Police Department in the area of Fairfax County Parkway and Rugby Road in Fairfax County. Two subjects were located inside the car and taken into custody. One of the subjects was found to be suffering from injuries consistent with gunshot wounds. He has been medevacced by Fairfax One to Inova Fairfax Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Law enforcement personnel remain on the scene as the incident remains under investigation. More details will be released as they become available.

THUG DISARMED and FLEES


An armed suspect fled after a convenience store employee and a customer intervened in a robbery Wednesday night at the High-Up Food Mart located in the 400 block of Enterprise Street in Sterling, VA.

The suspect entered the store shortly before 9:30PM on February 11th, brandished a firearm, and demanded cash. The suspect jumped over the counter and grabbed money from the cash register.

The cashier and a customer intervened and a physical altercation ensued. After a brief struggle, the suspect fled the store with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was seriously injured during the course of the robbery.

The suspect, described as a Black male, was wearing a red jacket, blue jeans, a black stocking cap and purple gloves. The suspect was concealing his face with a blue bandana. The firearm was recovered at the scene.
