Board Considers Delgaudio Request to Rush Safety Project at W&OD Trail and Sterling Boulevard

Summer also brings more bicycles onto the road, especially at the busy crossing of the W&OD Trail and Sterling Blvd.

I surveyed the Sterling District in my newsletter, and 77% of Sterling residents said that this crossing is a serious problem that needs to be fixed. I am working with the County, the Northern Virginia Regional Parks Authority, and VDOT to make this crossing safer for both cars and bicyclists. Remember that cars have the right-of-way, and cars should not stop in the middle of the road unless a bicyclist or pedestrian is already in the street.

Board of supervisor members will be asked to consider "expediting" recommendations made in a Study to make improvements at this "intersection" of cars, pedestrians and bikes through the public process including the use of the VDOT study and public input to the board.

It is on the July 1 Board of Supervisors agenda and will be considered by the full board to consider expediting for safety issues.
