GIANT HOLIDAY GIFT TO STERLING!

December 28, 2005

>>> HOLIDAY MIRACLE AT SULLY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.
>>Senator Mims announces resignation

Dear Sterling American,

Schools closed but I want you there anyway.

Meet me at Sully Elementary School at 10 a.m. Thursday December 29 to be
part of a ceremony to receive a large donation to the Sully PTO for
their Discovery Park Project.

I have invited parents, community leaders to be present in front of the
school to see this special and historic event.

Randy Sutcliff, Esq. of the Claude Moore Foundation will present a large
donation of $20,000.00 to help assist the building of the Sully
Discovery Park.

This is an extremely generous gift to the children and to the Sterling
community.

This is a rare moment in Sterling history and I consider it a Holiday
time miracle.

Please join me at 10 a.m. Thursday December 29 to help welcome the
donation of this significant gift to the building of this science
oriented park.

Sully Elementary School is located next to the Sterling Park Water Tower
on 300 Circle Drive. Take Sterling Boulevard to Holly Avenue, head east
4 blocks to the school.

>>Senator Mims announces resignation
>>Herring is Dem candidate in 33rd special election

As I have written you previously. It is now official. Yesterday long
time Republican Senator Bill Mims announced he will be resigning his
Senate seat to join Attorney General Bob McDonnell.

Senator Mims, with his entire family at his side, announced his
departure and gave thanks to his family and the community for supporting
him. Look for Mims to return on a future ballot.

I am supporting Mick Staton to be the Republican nominee for Senator.

Also yesterday, former Leesburg District Supervisor Mark Herring
announced his candidacy for the seat. Herring, a Democrat, was joined by
Former Broad Run District Supervisor Chuck Harris who relinquished his
challenge to Herring.

>>> ELECTION JAN. 24 OR JAN. 31

The Republican nomination is still up in the air. Additionally, Mims
announced he will resign on January 11th, thus allowing Republican
Senator Sen. John Chichester to make the decision on the special
election date, rather than Gov. Mark R. Warner. Mims suggested the
election be held Jan. 24 or 31. It is likely Senator Chichester will
respect that suggestion.

>>>> NO ELECTION THIS WEEK

There will be no nomination process this week or this weekend. The
method of nomination will be decided and then a date to be selected but
it is not in the next 7 days for sure.
This will decide the "Republican nominee". It will not take place prior
to Jan. 11 for sure!
