>>Graffiti freak- Vandals on the loose.

A wall got spray painted on Commerce St. at our community center,
another wall of a private store in a mall got spraypainted and a
storage pod got spray painted on Winchester Dr. It is an attack by
lawless individuals. (stronger language following).

Sterling citizens have quickly responded to graffiti last month. The
quicker we take it down, the longer it stays away.

The VDOT crew corrected a 3 letter message on the "Winchester Wall", a
shopping center covered up graffitti, and Shirley Contracting took a 4
letter message off the sound barrier at Church Rd. And several messages
written on roads around Park View HS were painted over. Thank you to the
citizens and the deputies and crews going out. The county has already
responded started the first stages of cleaning the community center
graffiti. Thank you.

Most of the spray painting that goes on is quickly reported and covered
up or corrected. There is a "gang task force" or GRIt number where all
graffiti is referred to: the non-emergency dispatch 703-777-1021 or
703-777-0303.

It is all of our jobs to report graffiti and to make sure it is removed,
painted over or eradicated as soon as it is seen. The "person" who does
this crime is not an "artist" but is anti-social and our quick
correction of the misdeed is part of the solution.

Procedure for people and businesses to follow on graffiti and more
information on "GRIT".

>>>American Legion Hosts Benefit for Legionnaire's Family
>>> SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 23

As reported in more than one newspaper (thank you): Tom Schumacher, past
Post 293 Commander of the American Legion suffered four strokes at the
end of June, forcing him into a lengthy hospital stay and probable
nursing home care for the rest of his life.

Schumacher and his wife, Merry, have 4 children, ages 13, 14, 19, and
21, with the 3 youngest living at home in Hamilton.

Merry Schumacher ran for Supervisor in 2003 as a Republican and helped
Sterling District by being a candidate against Jim Burton. She has been
a teacher at Leesburg Christian School where many Sterling students have
attended.

With the loss of Tom's income added to the medical expenses beginning to
accumulate, the American Legion Family is hosting a benefit for the
Schumacher Family, Saturday, September 23, 2006, from 5:30 - 11pm at the
American Legion Post in Purcellville. The cost is $15 for a steak
dinner, entertainment by Bobby B and the Flashbacks, an impersonator,
and a silent auction.

Monetary donations, earmarked for the Schumacher Benefit can be mailed
to: American Legion Post 293
Attn: Phil Leonard P.O. Box 597 Purcellville, VA 20134.

>>> HOW TO SAVE $12 PARKING CHARGE AT AIR AND SPACE MUSEUM
>>> CONGRESSMAN FRANK WOLF MADE IT HAPPEN

Visit the Air and Space museum and SKIP the $12 charge. Don't bring your
car. Right Delgaudio, that's quite a walk you say.

No long walk involved. Go directly to Dulles Town Center. Park your car
and take a Virginia Regional Transit bus shuttle to the Air and Space
Museum.

Just hop on the shuttle from Dulles Town Center to A and S museum. If
you need to have it explained: call: 540-338-1610, or email
[email protected]. THIS MEANS YOU DONT PAY THE PARKING FEE OF TWELVE
DOLLARS every time you go. So go
as often as you wish. Keep me posted. Thank me and your Congressman
Frank Wolf and VRT.

Leesburg Today is conducting a poll regarding Loudoun County's zoning

and will hold up in court. (Note: the last extreme growth plan cost
taxpayers 6.5 millions of dollars and was ultimately thrown out by the
Supreme Court.)
