September 27, 2006

Washington Gas has met with Supervisors and is considering my request to
reimburse the county. Combined Properties quickly erased ALL the
graphitti on their building at Burlington Coat Factory.

>>> DELGAUDIO PROPOSES LOUDOUN ADOPT LIMITED 287 (G)

I am appealing to the recent decision of Loudoun County Sheriff's
Department to not participate in the Bureau of Immigration and Customs
Enforcement's "287(g) cross designation training."

I am proposing a limited involvement.

In a letter last week, I wrote to the Sheriff, in part:

"the problem of gang crime in our area, and their habit of preying on,
and recruiting from, illegal aliens, proactive steps must be taken to
curb illegal alien activity in Loudoun County.

Rather than have hundreds of field deputies to travel to Georgia, or
attend training elsewhere, I propose your department mandate 287(g)
authority training only for the few, eligible, personnel who process
arrestees at the Adult Detention Center.

The Arizona Department of Corrections, and Los Angeles and San Bernadino
counties in California, have adopted this focused and cost-effective model."

>>>Attorney General issues opinion on the Marriage Amendment
Dismisses claims of "unintended consequences"

Attorney General Bob McDonnell dismissed claims of so-called "unintended
consequences" made by opponents of the marriage amendment in an official
opinion released by his office.

The Attorney General joins the General Assembly in dismissing the
opponents' baseless unintended consequences argument; the people of
Virginia should do the same.

The debate over the marriage amendment should be how we are going to
define marriage, and that is the debate conservatives are prepared to
have with our liberals opposed to marriage. (for full text of pdf, see
