Happy Father's Day

June 16, 2007

Great news. At the last board of of Supervisors meeting, I introduced legislation to eliminate the grass blight.

I asked for immediate action by the Health Department and the cooperation of the real estate industry and the banks or other financial institutions. And after an inspection tour today, the problem has been reduced to a handful of houses with the problem in Sterling.

THANK YOU to everyone who helped us in this situation. Thank you to the county supervisors, the county staff, the newspapers and other media, the real estate industry, the banks and other financial institutions and homeowners too.

HEALTH EMERGENCY OVER FOR NOW
>>> GRASS BLIGHT ELIMINATED

The problem of unoccupied "for sale" houses having out of control grass and weeds has been greatly reduced as of today. Of course, I will keep an eye on it.

This is great news for Sterling. It is a big turnaround compared to just a few days ago.

2 weeks ago at a board of supervisors' meeting I introduced a resolution asking for special attention to be paid to Sterling Park's many blighted houses that seem to have been forgotten about during this housing glut. The grass was allowed to grow two feet high at over 100 locations. This resolution requested the Health Department to issue citations immediately on these unsightly and unhealthy situations. After a short discussion, the Delgaudio Weed Nusiance Resolution passed unanimously.

>>>>THANK YOU for Thank You's FROM IRAQ

In an internet message, David Karmol, working in Iraq wrote me "I just came back from a late dinner, and again saw the display of hundreds of pieces of art from McNair Elementary School in Herndon.

Hundreds of brightly colored 8.5 x 11 sheets, all decorated with flags, rainbows, pictures the kids have drawn of themselves and their homes or the words "thank you" and other messages to the soldiers, have been posted in the hallway that leads to the dining facility here, .....in the embassy.

It is very nice, and a wonderful gesture by the school and its teachers to have had the kids do the art, and send it over to support our troops." (unquote)
