Teen Found-- Happy New Year!

December 30, 2007

>>> MISSING TEEN BOY FOUND

A South Riding teen missing for two weeks was located Wednesday in a vacant house in Leesburg.

Gary Lee Henry, 16, was reported missing on December 12th and was last known to be in the CountrySide area of Sterling. The Sheriff's Office learned Henry was staying in vacant buildings and closed community pool houses. The Sheriff's Office became concerned for his well-being due to the cold conditions and the possibility he is living in buildings without heat.

Henry was located Christmas night by the Leesburg Police Department. Thank you all for your prayers.

>>>>GRAFITTI WIPED OUT

Deputies responded to grafitti being drawn on a Sterling Park sign. After the crime was properly recorded, repairs were quickly made on the spot within minutes.

>>>Board of Supervisor Meeting Times Change to 9 A.M.

The first meeting of the new board will be on a Thursday, Jan. 3 this week and then return to regular meetings the first and second Tuesdays of each month begining at a new time, 9 a.m.

Topics for the first meeting include the appointment of new planning commissioners. I have renominated Helena Syska a professional educator and community leader, and who served with distinction previously.

>>>Other Commissioners To Be Appointed

The other nominees for planning commission are Christeen Tolle, Peggy Maio, Bob Klancher, Erin Austin, Sandra Chaloux, Gigi Robinson, Chris Broderick and Michael Keeney from the respective other Supervisors.

>>>>DELGAUDIO CHAIRS ROUTE 28 TAX DISTRICT

I am expecting to serve on one Committee of the 4 standing committees and to sit with Supervisors Jim Burton and Sally Kurtz again for 4 years as far as seating line-ups for the board of supervisors. That was my choice 4 years ago and now that they are in the majority they are returning the favor.

As quoted in one paper, Years ago, I gave up appointments to make sure Sups. Burton and Kurtz got their share of the work and that's what Loudoun needs: all the supervisors doing their share of the work no matter what their party affilation. They now return the favor.

And I will serve on the Route 28 Tax District Committee as I have for 8 years in my first two terms which provides me oversight of Route 28 projects that border Sterling on the west. I currently serve as chairman for a one year term.

The rules of order which sparked controversy restore Scott York as Chairman but the spotlight is on him to not be arrogant and dictatorial as he was in my first term.

>>>> WHAT ELSE IS THE BOARD PLANNING?

A community planning process for Sterling which could disrupt our current residential uses and zoning. I will keep you informed. Reports will be made to the board by staff on zoning processes and the rural economy which is quite small compared to residential and commercial tax base.

<>A move to rejoin the coalition for high growth counties and support for the Hallowed Ground downzoning of thousands of square miles stretching through several states will be considered. This will dictate the two lane highway on Route 15 to remain a two lane highway and forbid a western Loudoun bypass forever.

>>> FREE SPEECH PROHIBITIONS BEING PROPOSED

Mr. Burton is proposing several more restrictions on free speech as a follow up to free speech prohibitions at the last meeting of the old board. As always, I will vote against restrictions on free speech or limitations on political activity by Democrats or Big Government Liberals in any party.

The liberals proclaim it loudly: public office is only meant for liberals and conservatives need not even THINK about running for office.

>>>  WILL LOUDOUN COUNTY SEEK THE DOUBLING OF OVERCROWDING FINES?

There are other things the Board will consider Thursday. I hope Loudoun will continue to call for Legislative action in Richmond to double the fines for overcrowding to $5,000 for second offenses and $7500 for the third offense. Continued membership on the Culpeper Coalition, an anti-illegal alien coalition joined by the county,  might be discussed too.

>>> WANT THE EXPANDED VERSION OF BOARD'S FIRST MEETING PLANS?

This is the link on the Loudoun County website to the Agenda Summary for the January 3 meeting.

>>>>>LINK programs touch many lives: LINK

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOhXQVymSGU

This new youtube 27 minute video has outpaced similar youtube videos. I interviewed with conservative leader Howard Phillips on his Conservative Roundtable and asked each county in Virginia and local governments around the country to follow the lead of Loudoun County. Since the broadcast the Culpeper Coalition formed and Help Save Loudoun has spread to Maryland and throughout Virginia with our top spokesman, Bob Marshall, considering a run for the U.S. Senate.
