G'Bye Bowers; Hello Herrity?

>>Loudoun County Administrator Kirby Bowers Is Leaving

Loudoun County Administrator Kirby M. Bowers announced Thursday his retirement after more than 31 years of service with the Loudoun County government.  He has served as County Administrator since June 1992.  His retirement will be effective April 1, 2009.

>>> Supervisor Delgaudio Comment On Bowers Departure

No other person has shaped Loudoun more in 31 years of his service and as Administrator since 1992.

On Mr. Bower's watch Sterling District's quality of life seemed to be ignored while other parts of the county were built up. Eastern Loudoun was shunned as far as zoning enforcement for Leesburg's benefit and it was only by exception that things were accomplished.

Granted, it was, and is, a board of supervisors that directed Mr. Bowers. But some of these problems are huge.

Illegal aliens massed in recent years and Sterling is ground zero for the largest number of foreclosures in the county--again testimony to the lack of zoning enforcement or local government response to the quality of life issues. Mr. Bowers tenure includes this legacy and I hope that the next administrator takes a different direction when it comes to including Sterling and Eastern Loudoun in providing services.

On February 3rd, there will be a special election for Fairfax County Chairman to fill the rest of the term of Gerry Connolly, who was elected to Congress last November. I encourage you to work and urge our friends in Fairfax to vote for Republican Pat Herrity.
