>>> RONALD REAGAN ON MEMORIAL DAY

... Our pledge and our prayer this day are those of free men and free women who know that all we hold dear must constantly be built up, fostered, revered and guarded vigilantly from those in every age who seek its destruction. We know, as have our Nation's defenders down through the years, that there can never be peace without its essential elements of liberty, justice and independence. Those true and only building blocks of peace were the lone and lasting cause and hope and prayer that lighted the way of those whom we honor and remember this Memorial Day. To keep faith with our hallowed dead, let us be sure, and very sure, today and every day of our lives, that we keep their cause, their hope, their prayer, forever our country's own." ---Ronald Reagan

>>> Patricia Phillips Party

Patricia Phillips will host a party at the pavillion at Claude Moore Park after the ceremonies. She will have details.

>>> MULLINS GOP STATE CHAIRMAN

After Monday's ceremonies, I will join Republican leaders working with me since 1988, just a short 21 years ago, in saluting Pat Mullins at a Monday pre-convention barbecue. This coming Saturday May 30 my family will join 10,000 other Republicans at the Richmond Coliseum to re-elect Mullins, nominate candidates for governor, lt. governor and Ken Cuccinelli as Attorney General. Loudoun's delegation will include many celebrities and we will listen to some speakers and makes some noise.

In 1988. I ran the Fairfax county presidential campaign for Pat Robertson. Pat Mullins became a friend and ally in my behalf and supported me in Republican politics. He is a full time Rotarian for many years but the Washington Post hates him MORE. Go figure.

>>> PLOWMAN TO GET AWARD TUESDAY

The next LCRC meeting on May 26, at 7:30 p.m.,is at the Loudoun County Supervisors Board room in Leesburg. Virginia Attorney General Bill Mims and Republican Party of Virginia Chairman Pat Mullins will both be in attendance.

Attorney General Bill Mims will present a special award to our Commonwealth Attorney Jim Plowman as well as RPV Chairman Pat Mullins.

>>>GAZEBO MOSTLY RE-BUILT

The new wood structure gazebo for music and the Sterling Playmakers at the Sterling Community Center is mostly rebuilt and will be ready next week for public use. The previous structure burned and now has been replaced.

>>> LINCOLN ROAD BEING REPAVED.

Half of Lincoln Road is milled and repaved. The other half from Holly to Church will be done this week. There will be no parking from 7 a.m. 5-26-09 to 5 p.m. 5-29-09. There are some other roads being done (like Nutley) and they look great. Please be courteous to workers.

>>> VDOT WILL REPAVE ENTIRE ROUTE 7

This message from VDOT last night: "We are planning to mill and pave Rt. 7 East and West from Bridge on Rt. 15 Bypass (Old Leesburg city Limits) up to Fairfax County Line as a part of our annual paving projects (Season 2010). Our scope of work is 1.5" mill and pave for existing main line, Turn lanes and Cross over's."

>>> GUNGRABBERS ON THE MOVE

Pro-gun rights groups and private citizens are reacting negatively to the attempt by the county board of supervisors to stall gun rights mandated four years ago by Virginia law and more recently penalties were instituted for any county that does not restore the "right to carry" on their local county laws. Crowds of pro-gun civic leaders have started attending meetings of the board to express outrage that efforts are being made by the liberal majority to stall and risk lawsuits that the taxpayers will have to pay for and also definitely lose.

>>> YORK AND MILLER DECRY "RICHMOND'S DICTATE"

Staff reports outlining various anti-gun rights options have been prepared at the request of Chairman Scott York and Supervisor Stephens Miller which will be considered at a Public Safety Committee meeting and then the full board of supervisors meeting in June. I have stated on the record that the open carry, and discharge if necessary, of a gun in the defense of one's home or one's person in any public place should be legal. Liberals resist this truth and therefore subject Loudoun to legal challenge at taxpayer cost paying the attorney fees to the person who sues.
