Amazing Sterling Story: First Responders In Sterling Treated To Breakfast, Golf Tournament and Lunch

The Sterling Golf and Swim Club is sponsoring an upcoming First Responders and Civil Servant Golf Outing. This is a FREE event for all of the area's first responders, law enforcement, hospital employees, etc. Here are the details of the event:

Saturday September 17th Breakfast at 8:30 AM Shotgun start at 10am. Lunch is being provided to all First Responders. at 333 S. Sterling Blvd Call 703-430-1400 Free to play in the tournament!!

Sterling Golf and Swim Club is also looking for folks to adopt teams. They are asking for $100 donations for each of the 35 teams. Write [email protected] to sponsor a team.

Schools Opened Monday August 29

I will be at most Sterling Back to School Nights. Welcome to the new school board member, Brenda Sheridan, who replaces the late Warren Guerrin. The sheriff has asked me to tell you about extra deputies that will be on patrol for safety with an emphasis on watching for reckless speeding around schools.

Sterling Man Charged on Multiple Narcotics Related Felony Charges After Search of Sterling Residence on Redfox Court

A Sterling, Virginia man was taken into custody September 1, 2011 on multiple narcotics related felony charges.

Austin M. Rhodes, 32, was charged with possession with intent to distribute heroin, possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, and possession with intent to distribute cocaine. Rhodes faces an additional charge of possession of ammunition by a convicted felon.

Members of the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office Vice-Narcotics Unit and the Sheriff's Emergency Response Team (S.E.R.T.) conducted a search warrant at the suspect's residence in the 46800 block of Redfox Court around 9 p.m. Thursday. Seized from the home was 1 ounce of powder cocaine, 1/8 ounce of crack cocaine, and 4 grams of heroin. The narcotics have a combined street value of approximately $4, 000. Also located inside the home was ammunition for a firearm.

The search warrant stemmed from a month-long investigation conducted by members of the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office Vice-Narcotics Unit.

Rhodes remains held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center without bond.

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office encourages residents to call the agency's Narcotics tip line at 703-771-5798 to report any suspected narcotics activity

NEXT DELGAUDIO FUNDRAISER

Friday Night October 7 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Please bring $25 to the next fundraiser on Friday Night October 7, the night BEFORE the Sterlingfest parade and festival in downtown Sterling.

The pre-Sterlingfest Delgaudio Fundraiser is at Santini's from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and will feature pizza, salad and soda. Drinks or other orders can be gotten separately. Admission is $25.

George Allen, Scott York, Roger Zurn, Bob Wertz, Mike Chapman, Gary Clemens, Tom Rust, Gwen Cody, Pat Mullins, Steve Mullins, David Ray, James Parmelee, Pat Nolan, Barbara Comstock, Bob Marshall, Pat McSweeney, Jim Gilmore, Ken Cuccinelli, and Bob McDonnell have attended previous events.

STERLINGFEST

October 8- Parade at 10 am then festival from 11-3. Vendors, food and music outside Sterling Community Center on Enterprise and Commerce Street.
