STERLING DEMANDING 8 Ballots; No Block Vote

July 17, 2005

>>>Red Light-Green Light

The traffic light at Holly and Church (by the 7-11) is installed AND
turned on. Things are moving smoothly now at that intersection.

" We now have a traffic light that is WORKING" writes B. Bowers.

I can see the excitement and the joy on the faces of hundreds of
Sterling Americans as they drive through that area. Congratulations to
all who worked for this. You deserve it. And you paid for it too.

>>>>>>BIG BLOCK BOND MOVE SPARKS REBELLION
>>>>>>You Are On The Move To Stop The Block Vote $200,000,000.00 Bond

EMAILS are pouring in to the Loudoun Board of Supevisors requesting that
the Board keep the bonds separate. You all are wonderful. Write again
since some Western Loudoun busybodies are beginning to send in requests
to keep it all one big $200 millon block bond.

If you want to keep the $200,000,000 bond proposal "separated by
project" then write the board immediately. Otherwise, you will be forced
to vote on a super bond with one yes or no vote.

For the first time in many long years, the BOS Finance Committee voted
to place SEPARATE bonds so that you can vote on each bond. Now the
liberal elite want to limit your vote, on Tuesday at a full board
meeting, and have promised to take 7 of the 8 ballots on each bond and
reduce it to one yes or no block vote, just like the Democratic
controlled boards of the past.

If you agree with me and want to vote for the bonds one by one, tell the
Board of supervisors before Tuesday "I want to vote one by one on each
school bond.I object to one block vote on $200 million."

I know you do not agree with liberal Supervisor Jim Burton. Burton wants
to lump everything together so that you or your neighbors are held
hostage to what the liberal elite wants to put in Western Loudoun.

Rep. Frank Wolf (R-VA) wrote a letter to the American law firm Akin Gump
Strauss Hauer and Feld LLP regarding its decision to represent the China
National Offshore Oil Corporation Ltd, a (Communist) Chinese state-run
entity.

"I question the appropriateness of an American firm advising and being
on the payroll of the Chinese government," Wolf wrote. A copy of the
letter also is online at www.wolf.house.gov

This is the first case of an American law firm representing a Communist
government in an attempt to take over another American company.

>>>VDOT TO RE-PAVE ROADS BY ROLLING RIDGE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

VDOT's Rep wrote me and said "We have some concrete repairs to complete
prior to paving Frederick and Leatherleaf. It is our wish to have all
work there completed prior to school reopening in the late summer." (So,
look for a repaving of Leatherleaf and Frederick). Lets' cooperate with
VDOT as they re-pave our roads. They need it. We need it.

>>>>>Fat Nannies Want to Bust Your Gut

"Every time a new obesity study comes out, pundits latch onto it as
proof that the government either should or should not take an interest
in what Americans eat and how much they exercise. (especially at the
Loudoun County School Board)

>>>>400,000 die? No More Like 26,000 die due to being overweight.

When researchers at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
claimed 400,000 Americans (later to 365,000) die each year due to poor
diet and physical inactivity, the champions of intervention were quick
to proclaim an obesity 'epidemic' demanding policies aimed at getting us
off the sweets and on the StairMaster. When another team of government
statisticians said the true death toll, once the apparent health
benefits of being slightly overweight were taken into account, was more
like 26,000, (hear that School Board?) opponents of such meddling
rejoiced (that would be Eugene Delgaudio of Sterling)

In his column, Reason Magazine's Jacob Sullum dismantles the dubious
claims of another obesity study.
